Nansha fritter is a famous snack in Chengde, Hebei province, which tastes crisp and sweet, and has a history of more than 200 years.

It has several flavors due to different fillings; the common fillings are sugar, melon seeds, hawthorn or walnuts.

It used to be a specially-supplied food for imperial families in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
